Weekend getaway with kids (without flying)

Anyone have any ideas for a weekend getaway within Hong Kong or nearby on the mainland? Kids are 4 to 12 and we just want two nights away from Hong Kong Island at some place fun.


Does such a place exist? Thanks

We use to live in HKG prior to Guangzhou and have two adventurous kids, 5 and 6.5 yrs old.


If costs is not an issue, try Disneyland hotel. Not sure whether your 12 yr old would like it though.


I also heard that the new Venetian hotel at Macau is an interesting place to visit for the family - haven't tried though.


There are not a lot of places near Hong Kong that is hassle free, kids and weekend crowds don't mix well, moreso getaway places.


If you don't mind day trip - try Ocean Park, fun place for kids of different age range.


Imax 4D theatre at Hong Kong Airport Terminal 2. Our kids love it.


Junk trip to outlying island. Weather permitting. On a good day, it can be a beautiful journey.


Science musuem at Tsim Sha Tsui.
