Good day,
I will be moving to Hong Kong in November, and I will be working close to the Kowloon Tong MTR stop. I would like to bring my cat with me, and I have found that Park Island apartments are generally pet friendly. Does anyone know about commuting from Park Island to Kowloon? Also, I have checked into several serviced apartments that allow pets, but all are too pricey for me. My range is 12,000-16,000/month. Any tips? Thanks in advance!

i would suggest you look at Ocean Shores in Tiu Keng Leng. 30 minutes to Kowloon Tong (one train), incredible clubhouse facilities, pet friendly, pet sitting service for going on holidays, and a second train to HK Island if you need, below your budget for two bedrooms (you could prob. get a flat for 10-11K in this market)

50 minutes door to door from Park Island to Kowloon Tong MTR. A few train changes but pretty easy. A shuttle bus from PI to Tsing Yi and then by train. There are closer places I guess but PI is a great place to live.

consider that in the morning, the train will be quite full at Tsing Yi (I did the Tung Chung to Central trip regularly before moving closer) so standing room only. coupled with waiting for the bus (which by Murphy's law you will always miss by 1 minute! lol) and a busy train change at Lai King as well as Prince Edward, there are definitely nicer places to live...and don't be fooled by the name, Park Island is quite small, with a very dense cluster of towers (imagine the view into your neighbor's dining room every night) backed up by a dense cluster of village houses. yes there is a new, purpose built 'park' (how natural is that?) but from what i've heard it's overrun on weekends by tourists from PRC...imho it is the worst possible example of developers completely exploiting what could have been a beautiful place...

Funbobby these sound like comments form one who has only heard of Park Island not seen it for themsleves. Those that live here rave about the place.
msfranny, I suggest you come out to PI and have a look. It's a great place, and as far as towers being close together, find me somewhere in HK where the buildings aren't close together.

definitely have a look (as we did), hard to sign a lease without doing so right?? lol. then come out to Tseung Kwan O, esp. Ocean Shores. I guarantee you will be blown away by the facilities and convenience (no I'm not an agent, just a very satisfied resident!) and the open ocean/green views without having to watch your neighbor clip his toenails while you eat dinner.

Tseung Kwan O is close to the landfills - worst for your health.
As for PI, it does seem a nice place, but I am worried about the noise from aircrafts taking off that pass right on top of PI. COuld PI resident give us their opinion on aircraft noise?

I live at Park Island. I also work in Kowloon Tong. and it only takes me 40min to commute to work. I love it here on the island and once you get the timing of the buses right, you'll find going to KT a breeze.

You could look at Sai Kung too, 700sf apartment for $8k, PLB to Choi Hung, MTR to Kowloon Tong.
Or in one of the many villages down the Clear water bay rd, towards Razor Hill, then less than 10 mins to Choi Hung.
