Baby swim float

Could anyone recommend a swim float for a 8-month old baby, and where did you buy it? Do you use a neck type, a seat type, or something else?

Thanks a lot!

I'd be interested in the answers to this. I take my 10 month old swimming and tend to just hold him and move him around the water. He seems happy with this, and likes splashing his arms and legs around. When he's facing down, we sometimes use a mini kick board for him to hold onto. (Kickboard is an arena one, available in any sports shop) . I've always thought neck floats look a bit scary- how do other people use floats?

You can get the "life vest" type ones in B2B, I was looking at them just yesterday, that will certainly give you some extra security should the baby slip from your arms. I think I also saw the blow up seats with the little umbrella, canopy over the top at ELC. The baby sits in it and the legs dangle. Our friends had one for their baby, and she loved it!

ToysRUs had many types: vest, built-in to the swimsuit, etc. Not sure if they still have them out, but it's worth a try.

we use a float ring with a seat inside, our pool is not heated so we felt that full immersion with a vest might be too cold, she loves being pushed through the water with her feet and legs in the water, and not too many splashes of clorinated water in her eyes (9 months old)
