Wacom tablet parts

Do you have any idea where I might find a replacement pen for a Wacom Intuos 2 tablet? I have a wonderful tablet in excellent condition, but the pen broke. Intuos 2 is not the latest model, but mine works fine, so I'd rather spend HK$500 on a new pen than HK$3000 on a new tablet.


Naturally, as one would expect in Hong Kong, a call to Wacom got a reply: "Buy new model instead." *&@^#*@ them. I checked Wacom sites in North America and Europe, and they offer replacement pens for this model, but are not allowed to ship abroad. I've checked retailers all over the web, but either the rules don't allow shipment outside the USA, or the shipping costs are US$60, for a $48 item.


So...do you perhaps have a clue which might lead me in the direction of a supplier, either here in HK or elsewhere, which might be able to supply me with this part?

Hmm, funny because Wacom HK do list pens as accessories on their own website. I'm sure we had a replacement for one of our Cintiq's or Intuos.

Another thing with a lot of h/w and s/w here in HK is that you have to find the resellers. Can take a bit of tracking down but very much worth it sometimes to get things into HK at a minimal cost.

Thanks for the reply. Wacom USA, Canada, UK, Australia and Germany all list replacement parts for Intuos 2 tablets. Only in Hong Kong, where the throwaway-old-buy-the-latest mentality prevails, does Wacom not stock parts for older models. Accessories are only for the latest models. After 3 weeks of leaving messages at their local office, they finally called me back and actually gasped in astonishment that I'd want to replace a part rather than bin the whole thing and buy the latest model. I asked if they could help me order the part from their Japan main office, but they made it clear they wouldn't even try. That takes imagination, something one does not find in abundance among HK office workers. I did try the resellers listed on their site, but those all order direct from Wacom HK.


I used to have bookmarks for some online discount computer supply retailers in HK and was hoping one of them would have some old pens gathering dust. But I can't find these places anymore. I went through every computer retailer listed on AsiaXpat's directory, but none of them is even close to being one of these online discount retailers of parts and supplies.


If anyone has some website addresses of online suppliers I might look for, that would be appreciated.
