Importing Ginseng?

I have a friend coming to visit this spring who is a professional botanist and a life-long ginseng enthusiast. He digs wild American Ginseng, and has many cultivated plants on his property. He also is very connected with many smaller diggers in Pennsylvania and Appalachia, as he grew up in that region and knows these folks since childhood. He hopes to make contact with someone in HK who is interested in working with him to connect his group of growers/diggers with the HK market, as well as buy his ginseng.


He wants all of this to be legal, etc, but is trying to circumvent the long line of middlemen who buy from local diggers in the US, sell to consolidators, who then sell to larger consolidators, who then sell to importers, etc etc.


Can anyone give me some insights on where I can go to help my friend find an outlet for his, and his friends' ginseng?
