I have found a car park for $1300 HKD per month, with a 12 month rental period. The Agent is claiming $1000 HKD in commission, but it was my understanding that the commission payable was 50% of one month, payable by both owner and renter. Would this apply for a car park rental contract as it does for an apartment rental?

Remember..there is NO agreement unless you have agreed in writing or verbally to pay the agent......the agent is probably getting paid by the owner and asking you for a payment could be an extra bit for him and explains WHY you don't have a clear agreement....just talk to the agent and make a deal that you are happy with.
