Insurance after a driving ban

I lost my driving license last year for 9 months (one-off speeding offence).

Anyway, when I got my renewed insurance, the premium had not gone up (I was honest with past record).

I have recently applied for insurance on second bike, and they have asked for double premium based on my previous ban. When asked why that wasn't the case, they (the agents) joked maybe I had not informed of the ban and not to worry now.

My worry is (in the event of a claim) that the agent/insurance company claim I never informed them and my insurance is therefore void. I have asked the agent to get a document from the insurance company to acknowledge they are aware of my ban, but that I am still insured. They have the document but say I cannot get a copy of it. This seems ridiculous.

Does anyone know how I can get proof that I am insured, and that they know of my past record? I just want peace of mind.

Do they have to share this with me? I believe there is something about sharing personal date (legal requirement) when asked?

No NCB on the second policy could be the reason for the higher premium. As far as I know it is the vehicle that is insured and then there are different excesses for the different types of driver/riders (age, experience etc)
