Is a kitchen playdough(comes with burger, french fries set, etc) still appropriate for a 5 years old girl?

It depends on what the child likes or is interested in. If she still likes playing with playdough, then it would be fine. However, if she is a girly girl, perhaps she likes things like fairies or princesses, etc. Can you ask the parent, that is what I tend to do, find out what the interests are. My 5 year old still plays with playdough, although not as much as she used to.
Given the amounts of birthday parties and presents we go through each year with friends, I always buy a Page One or Dymocks gift voucher unless they like a specific thing.
