hi need some ideas for a good bday present for second birthday - one boy and one girl (twins) ..what are 2 years old into at the moment?!

books are always great. Depends on your budget, mine (twins as well) are just over 2 and they love the Gruffalo series - or any of the books by the same writers.
the other favourite at the moment are the Happy Land play series - suitable for both boys and girls - Bumps to Babes has a good choice - different budgets as well - smaller or bigger sets.

My just turned two also loves books -- [anything by sandra boynton or eric carle, also especially loves Go Dog Go by PD Eastman, One Fish Two Fish by Dr Seuss and The Sheep of the Lal Bagh by David Mark].
She is also starting to really get into pretending: drinking "tea" or "hammering" on her workbench or "washing" things in the toy sink.
And musical things [but I firmly believe that it is inappropriate for people other than parents to give noisy toys as it is the parents who have to hear them 500 times a day; the one exception might be made for grandparents who are trying to get even with their own kids...]
