Those who like to pop over to Thailand for a weekend of good food, cold beers, a trip to the cinema and perhaps a 'show' may need to think twice about over 14-19 November. This is the period during which Thailand will be having various cremation ceremonies for the late Princess Galyani.
I've tried to find out definitive advice on what will be closed but am still only getting 'probablys and likelys' along the lines of entertainment venues shut, bars shut etc. If anyone has any definite news I'd love to hear it as we have booked to be in BKK during some of this period and we like to visit the bars and cinemas. I'm currently waiting for our hotel to confirm whether they will serve alcohol over this period.

Quick update - two hotels said they are serving alcohol over this period (Sheraton Grand Sukhumvit and Westin Sukhumvit) and two are not (Sheraton Riverside and Plaza Athenee). So, if you're going and enjoy a beer or two, you may want to check with your hotel.
