HK Schools

So it's time for me to decide what to do with the rest of my life and I am considering grad school. I've spent a while here on the mainland, but even the better schools here are not really competitive.

However! It's recently come to my attention that HK schools are quite competitive by world standards. Does anyone have anything to say about this? Agree / disagree? Any information / links / baseless opinions about getting a graduate degree (probably in some sort of humanities subject) at an HK university? What is the value of a degree from an HK university compared to a good (within the top 10) public US school? I realize these questions don't have solid answers so any reply is appreciated (as are links).

HKU is 3rd best Uni in Asia. Don't know about world rank.

If I were you I'd rather look into grad schools in the States or UK. HK is still not as "world-class" as they keep promoting. That's why the well-to-do in HK hardly goes to university or grad school locally.

HKU was rated #30 worldwide a couple of years ago. It's not hard to get into Graduate Degree programs, but likely depends on your bachelor's degree grades. You should check with your home country to find out about the validity of a degree from HK. There are some good programs here, but they are more dependent on the department rather than the university.

Alcheng - according to some Form 6 students that I know, those people who go overseas for university are the HKongers who can't get into the local schools and that the preference is to stay in HK. That being said, I know several professors and have worked in academia here for four years and find the student morale less than desirable amongst bachelor's students.
