What cream do you use for child's body and face?
I'm using aveeno lotion but it doesn't make his skin mosturize anymore even with 3 times a day.
How about in face? what do you put?
Thanks, my toddler is prone to allergy and has a very dry skin all year round, worst in winter.

If it is really dry, nothing beats Aquaphor. Haven't found it in HK though.

I use Oilatum in the bath and aqueous cream when it gets really dry.

BEST one for my kids with bad eczema and problem skin.... BIODERMA's Atoderm PP cream. AWESOME.
Cetaphil is also what my dermatologist recommends.
I use Bioderma RICH cream..... and its mask, overnight, skin is better.

Easiest to hydrate from the inside -- drinking more water, eating more fruit, clear soups, etc.

i found this range called E45 at Bumps to Babes. it's for really dry skin - eczema etc. it's fragrance free and comes in a big tub. it's great on baby and i tried it on my own dry skin and its fab! i've never seen it before so i thought i'd give it a try. ppl will recommend mustela for dry skin which i also use on bubs but it is really really really expensive!

Thanks everyone for your comment. He uses Aveeno cream now, hopefully it helps as he's okay with the aveeno lotion during summer.
I'll give mustela a try, which one does your baby use, Mayette? Cleansing for bathing? He still uses aqueous for bathing. I just need cream for dry skin/eczema. My boy scratches til it bleeds. Agree that the price is nothing, i've bought almost all creams and lotions.....physiogel, oilatum, ego, cetaphil, etc but to no avail.

Hi Joshmomm,
I've done that, doesn't work with this winter season.

Stelatopia of Mustela (really STINGS ) if skin is raw or broken. Be careful. Screaming baby after using it... then I tried it on a small patch of skin that's slightly raw or broken, my goodness, it was SO painful no wonder my baby was crying then ! I never used it again.

Hi Mayette,
Elomet is steroid that's why it works like magic, i don't like to use it for my son's skin. Just looking for a good cream for winter season. The stelatopia might be strong too if it stings.

Honeypie, i know this might be a bit strange, but i'm going to post anyway.
I have dry skin and allergies to soap (my eyes get very irritated if i use soap on my face).
I stopped using soap on my face about 14 years ago. In india they use chickpea flour or mungbean flour to wash. This is what i've been using for years now. No more allergies and my skin is in quite good condition (so they tell me on the rare event of my getting a facial).
try it on your baby, it may or may not work, but it's cheap to use and if u dont like it you can throw itout.
Chickpea flour is also called besan. t

Hi goddess kali,
I want to PM you but can't find your username. Where to get that flour? i'll give it a try as it's the first time i hear about that. Can i clean the face and body if it's just a flour? You just mix it with water and use that for washing or bathing? Thanks.

You should be able to find it in any indian store. Just ask for Besan and they'll give you some. Yes you can use it both on his body and face. It dries out skin a lot less.
Store in a plastic container in the refrigerator once opened, and tke a tablespoon or so everytime you need it. Just wet his body or face and yes u can make a thin paste before hand or also just apply it directly and wash off.
The only drawback is that it does smell like chickpea flour (which it is), so if it does bother you, you can put some nice smelling lotion like mustela on baby :)

Sorbolene Cream. Nothing else works like that. I have it sent over from Aust in a tub and it's the best cream in the world. No additives, fragrances, just plain old sorbolene with glysterine. Have been using it all my life as have generations of aussies, and the best thing is its cheap as chips!

Thanks goddess.
Neenib, is it available in Hk?

Unfortunately I have never seen it here (trust me I have been searching!), but when family come over, they bring it with them. You can buy it online through www.pharmacydirect.com.au. So when I need to do a bulk order with them I throw a tub in.
I used it on both my babies from newborn so that shows just how gentle the cream is.
It's also fantastic on cracked heels, it's so hydrating and softening for the skin. When my face is particularly dry I smother it on morning and night and within days my skin is much better.

QV for Kids (in tubes). they've got 2 different kinds, one is Moisturizer (with coloured beads that melts as soon as it touches the skin, fun way to moisturize) and the other one is Balm (another fun way to moisturize).
Available sometimes in Mannings and Watson's.

Second the QV, I actually use the QV wash for my daughter. It's excellent for the skin, no soap so it's not drying. I haven't used the cream yet, but will give it ago.

We have tried the QV but not for kids, it's dark blue color so might be different. I'll look for it. Thanks for the reply.

I have a four years old who suffered from eczema to the legs and arms, A doctor friend recommended me to use Shea butter, I brought some from L'Occitane which works well but cost HK$350 a tin, after some digging on the internet I came across a local e-shop from HK the sold real organics Shea butter at just HK160 and it works great. They even deliver to my office. The brand is call Shea-Organics (http://www.shea-organics.com/), I don't normally write post but it is really that good. I used the Shea Relief product, the one with the brown packaging.
