My girlfriend will visit me over Christmas and New Year's Eve and as I am quite new to Hong Kong I don't know yet, where to go. I don't have much space in my apartment (and it isn't very comfortable especially on those days).
Anyone has an idea what to do and where to go on these days to celebrate?
Thanks!
Looking forward to your replies!

Nearly all businesses will be open during Xmas and NYE, but nearly all restaurants will be doing set menus for both days. There should be fireworks on NYE and there are quite a few restaurants on the water front (a bit pricey) where you can catch them. Some suggestions are:
Watermark
Felix (Penninsula Hotel)
Aqua
Hutong
Iganiku (Four Seasons)
Spoon or Nobu at Intercontinental Hotel (I was a bit disappointed by Spoon, never been to Nobu)
On Xmas Eve or Xmas day, if you're not bothered about a view, some nice places for a romantic dinner are:
Le Marron in CWB (French private kitchen, very nice atmosphere and food)28816662
Shui Hu Ju on Peel Street Soho (a bit noisy, but food is nice) 28696927
Triubute on lower Elgin Street (food is consistently good) 21356645
The Pawn (heard the food is so so, but the location is quite cool) 28663444
If your gf is visiting, some other F&B options to take her would be:
Dim sum at Dragon I (very fresh and the all you can eat is very good value) 31101222
High Tea at Four Seasons or Penninsula Hotel
Afternoon tea at The Verandah in Repulse Bay 22922822
Drinks at Sevva or Pier 7 Cafe & Bar (both have great views, the latter is newer and less pricey)
Brunch/Lunch buffet at Grissini at the Grand Hyatt 25847933 (not cheap at around $500 per person, but it's very good food, good view but shame about the construction outside)
Dinner or drinks at the Lobby Bar at the Intercontinental Hotel (you can't book, but nice food, with live music and great view of the harbour)
Roast Goose at Yung Kee 25221624
Peking duck at Peking Garden in Alexandria House 25266456
Hope that gives you some options and have a great holiday season :)

Thank you very much for all the great suggestions! What do you think, when should I order a table?
Any idea what would be a nice activity apart from sightseeing? Any special events, trips etc?
How will be the waether like in Dec/Jan? Still possible to go to the beach?
Thanks!

You might want to start inquiring about Xmas menus etc now, most (good) restaurants should have them now and will be pushing them. You can never book too early, esp if you want a nice table for NYE. But like I said, be prepared to only have their set menu and not other options.
I saw your other post, so will try to answer here as well. Dec/Jan is too cold for the beach or to have a junk trip (unless you're English ;)). Apart from sightseeing, try the following:
- Ocean Park, the cable car ride is very cool.
- Ladies Night market (good for fakes) on Temple Street.
- Shopping!!! CWB is a good place, lots of boutiques and you'll find some treasures if you venture into some of the malls like Island Beverly or Apple Mall.
- Bowling in the mall above Olympic MTR Station
- Racks pool hall in LKF
- Poker Club on the 1st floor in a building on the corner of Hollywood Rd and Lyndhurst Tce (sorry don't have exact address)
- Hiking, there are many hikes around HK, you might want to ask around or search online
- Stanley Markets (No 6 or 260 bus from under Exchange Square)
- Lamma Island (good for a seafood lunch)
Hope that helps :)

Dear kaileyb,
thanks again! Damn I hoped the weather would be alright to go to the beach. Read some stuff on the internet recently saying temperatures would be around 15-20 degrees in December, less in January. True? Might be too cold for swimming but for hanging out?
I reckon indoor activities are better at that time of the year, any other ideas what we could do? As you read my other post, you know that a friend of mine will visit me as well in january. So I need a program for a female and a male visitor... But great proposals so far! Thanks!
I already studied my travel guides many times but that's run-of-the-mill.
Hope you have some more ideas ;) - Of course that's addressed to everybody else as well!
Thanks

too cool for swimming but with luck fine for hanging out. Two yrs ago we were here at Xmas and Xmas day was 25C - absolutely gorgeous. Yes, get ready for cold too - if last year repeats, it was freezing for 2 months! not kidding - had to sleep with my socks on.
