We had booked a tennis court at the Sai Kung Tennis Courts, tomorrow at 6:00PM to 7:00PM, cost $73.00, but due to the financial crisis a management meeting has been called and my partner is unable to make this booking. As such we wanted to swamp the ticket for another tomorrow 7:00AM to 8:00AM cost $34.00 and both courts were open as there were no other booking at this time, but staff said no, we can not do that. I have also spoken to the immediate supervisor Mr. 1 and his supervisor Mr. 2 Both men were unyielding in there response NO, we can not do that. I am not asking for a refund in the balance of the payment(s) just simply to swamp the time out which was free of any booking. I spend a good deal of money at the Sai Kung pool swimming 4 to 5 times a week in season and playing tennis (which I wish was more regularly) which equates to a rather large sum of money spent annually over many years. Mr 2 has informed me that I could apply and make out a refund request and if maybe accepted I could possibly be reimbursed in two months time. This is ludicrous service for a regular paying customer along with such a bureaucratic attitude of the leisure services department staff.

If it were easy and straightforward to swap one reserved session for another one, then what do think will happen? Users would be able to cancel their booked session at the last minute and swap it for a future one, leaving the court empty. With last minute cancellations made very easy to accomplish, and, if there are insufficient users to "pick up" the empty court, then the sports facilities would become underutilised. The strict adherence to the rules seems very fair. It prevents abuse of the sports facilities which are available to all members of the public.
