Hello! I know this is a far cry but nothing is completely hopeless! I know most Western families in GZ/HK have a nanny or sitter of Chinese or Filipino descent. I propose and offer you another option!
Here we go!
Me:
I am currently living in Guangzhou working for an American company which will soon be acquired. I work in Global Business Development, Marketing and Public Relations. At present I am looking for a another job in my field because I want to remain in China to continue my Chinese studies, particularly here in Guangzhou/Hong Kong. I enjoyed babysitting back home immensely. I miss my kids and thought this would be a good idea for me to meet some nice families who may need someone they can trust to watch their children.
Bit more about me: American woman, BA from a private college in the US, more than 10 years childcare experience. Hobbies include figure skating, traveling, reading, arts and crafts, learning Chinese... dappling in Spanish, cont'd...
I can discuss my qualifications further, your needs, and compensation. If you are interested I would require at least two initial meetings with the family prior to any engagement.
I am reliable, honest, and responsible. I am willing to travel into HK for overnights/etc. I will be doing strictly freelance work after acquisition until my courses at Uni begin next year.
Any moms want to discuss - give me a shout!

Hope you don't mind me saying so, but your sign in name might be a turn off to some.
broccoliface? Really??

...Really? I did not even consider that. My log-in was actually chosen by one of the kids I babysat for in Belleair. We watched the Powerpuff Girls daily and an episode about rescuing broccoli led her to eating hers... eventually!
Thanks for the advice Ruth! I don't think I want to change it though, it suits me! I still love the Powerpuff Girls and quite enjoy broccoli. I kind of figured most parents in my vicinity had no interest in a high-class, Westerner as an option with all the dirt cheap local and immigrant nannies available. Which I ...semi understand!
Thanks for my first and likely only reply! Carpe diem!

IF you are based in Guangzhou, why are you offering a babysitting service in Hong Kong??
Please support our advertisers:
Guangzhou is only a two hour train ride into HK... two hours isn't a huge leap. Not much different from driving 1-2 hours to reach a family back home. I went into HK regularly for business and spend the weeekends with friends there. It just doesn't seem too far to me I suppose. I don't need a visa to enter... I can return to China as a I please... I am not one to discount feasible options, so why not HK?
I have also learned from the friends I have there, that there are likely to be more families familiar to those I am used to working with. Plus, for HK what I had in mind was more of the overnights and weekends/parents out of town sort of things, not a daily service because I love living in Guangzhou.
I also learned through my friends there that most families don't mind leaving the kids with a nanny who may not be entirely 'familiar' to them as children adapt and can be, more or less, dragged around by anyone. I can put myself in a family's shoes and see why a cheaper Filipino nanny is more appealing, I completely understand that reasoning, I just thought it was worth a shot since babysitting is something I enjoy.
