quality clothing

I moved here about a month ago, and i have shopped until dropped thinking there would be many wonderful places to find interesting clothing - and there is except that none of it fits me. I am 5'8 and a size UK 10 and the only place I can find anything to fit is zara and h & m...and aside from the quality issues, i went out to a bar last week and saw three women wearing my dress. am i looking in the wrong places? i am not looking for cheap and cheerful, but not looking to spend HK $6k on a dress either...I would happily pay between HK $2-3K on a quality dress that I know I won't see in every bar I go to. I am going to Australia for xmas so looking for a few summery dresses that I can also wear in hong kong next year.

thanks - i found the most amazing new store in soho that caters mostly to the expat market - at least from a size perspective. I notice that there are quite a lot of women in between jobs or looking for new business ideas. The girls that have started this venture are looking for feedback on the new clothes they are bringing in so if anyone is interested, pm me and i will give you the details. I didn't love everything they had, but most of it was fab - and well priced , but have to say the jeans they stock are "to die for" - if you don't have a flat chinese bottom you should definitely try them.

it's in gage st, central. right near the escalator off lyndurst terrace. it is a little tricky to find the first time, so i took their phone number 25452162. I went back to buy another pair of jeans yesterday but they had sold out - but they are receiving a new order later this week - i pre-ordered so i don't miss out. the whole concept is fab! - we were there for almost three hours - enjoying champagne, chatting about the history, and they take you through all the latest styles, the different ways to wear them, options for jewelry and shoes...and the prices are very reasonable they had just received some really lovely long camisoles etc for layering, and they were so well priced i bought some as gifts for xmas. they are a def find!

must have been having a blonde moment!! (no offense to other blondes:-) the name is "LoveIt" ...it's not a ground floor, so for first timers, suggest you take the number and phone in need...only 50 metres from escalator. their new jeans just arrived today - if you are curvy like me, you will seriously love them.

Hi PCMDG, I'm very curious to try it out. What sort of price range is it? Having been in HKG for many years, I've sometimes paid for for a glass of wine than I have for a top in an export shop. Is it similar to the Pedder Building shops?

Hi Shoe Girl - the price actually varies....it's certainly not the lower end chain stores but it's not high end designer either. It's hard to explain the price point without understanding the concept - the ladies who run the show are expats and they do all the buying themselves - from what I understand they designed a shopping experience as a combination of all their favourite boutique designer labels from around the world with their most memorable shopping experiences - and as it was explained to me, they only buy what they love - so they don't only stock one or two labels etc they carry about 30. I saw one dress, a 1-off, for HK$800 - which was just devine but just didn't quite fit, and then they had beautiful silk dresses that varied between hk $2-3k (they actually have the dress that paris hilton broke up with her boyfriend in recently - it's fab). then they have the most 'to die' for tops, lingerie, layering garmets, slips, belts...the list goes on - prices for these range from HK$500 - $1500....but what i think is really great is that they short range everything they carry...so you might spend hk$1K on a dress but you know that you are the only person who has it in your size - and that you may well be the only person who has it in honkers. for the extra few hundred $, i would rather pay for something that i know i will only see on me...and you discover all of this over a glass of champagne, you can speak in english to people who can guide you in size and style...seriously worth checking out - sorry for essay:-) ps: one last thing, i spent two hours there - was so absorbed forgot the time and stood my boyfriend up for lunch.
