Where to stay in Tokyo

we are travelling to Tokyo with our then nearly 3 yr old twins and am not sure where to stay. I would be good to be somewhere, where we can jump on the metro easily to get to everything and local restaurants (esp child friendly) are important to... Many thanks!


btw - we are also going to Kyoto so any tips on where to stay in Kyoto will be greatly appreciated too!

I always stay at the ANA hotel but purely because it is the easiest to get to (first stop on the Airport Limosine Bus service) and has a metro station nearby. It's just a basic hotel not particuarly kid friendly but if that is a priority why not stay at one of the hotels in Tokyo Disneyland http://www.tokyodisneyresort.co.jp/tdr/english/hotel/index.html

It was 2 years back me and my husband went there for holiday. We really enjoyed our stay at Westin Tokyo, it's really great..

My brother's family of 5 is coming in from Canada and wants to experience Japan the local way for a few days, any recommendation for accommodation like student exchange where they can mix in with the local families to see the culture, food, on sen, shopping...etc
