The rooftop above IFC Mall may be what you are looking for. You will find seating, trees and open space as well as a promenade of sorts.

It has restuarants to the side - not sure if that will out you off. We frequent this area often and love it.

I went IFC, It is very nice place. And, the nice sofa is for public, not private.
