3 questions...

Hi Ladies,


I have recently arrived in hong kong - have set up my own business in retail fashion (with an expat orientation, sizes and colour palette). I have three questions I am hoping you can assist me with...


1. Prior to owning my own business here, I was in the corporate world - and I find I am missing the buzz of the 'connection' that the corporate world has....does anyone know of any small business associations here (formal or informal) where women with interesting backgrounds from all walks of life meet to exchange business ideas, or to help each other out etc. and if they don't exist, does anyone have any interest in creating one.


2. I am in the pre-launch phases of my business, and given my focus on expat women, i would also be very keen to know whether there are people out there, interested in fashion, who would like to offer their opinions on my plans. I have read that many friendship groups have been impacted by the credit crunch with people leaving Hong Kong, so it may be a way to meet new people as well, and it would also be a way for me to meet new people as I seem to never find enough hours in the day


3. is anyone a member of a book club? i have been thinking of joining one, but would be interested in learning about the experience of others before i do.

The Australian Association has a group for working women - not sure what it is called but look them up on the net and you should be able to find out more.


There are of course the various Chambers of Commerce, Aust, American, British etc.

I second the recommendation of the Australian Association. You can try to go to the functions of the New Zealand Association as well. Every nationality is welcome in both groups.
