Temperature of Nursery

ORIGINAL POST

I've read that the nursery should be kept at around 18 degrees. This sounds very cold to me. When we picked up our daughter from Mother's Choice, the room was a constant 24 degrees. Not sure what is correct, or is there a "happy medium". Any thoughts.

this is the thread that was posted a couple of months ago. It has heaps of information. I personally think 18 is too cold for a baby, and tend to go for around 22 degrees and my baby (now 6 months) wears a long sleeve jumpsuit with a 1.0 tog grobag and sheet over the top. I did put a light waffle blanket over him the other night. But basically your baby should not be too overheated.

We don't use the air con now as it's much cooler, but i still do turn the fan part on low to give that "white noise". He seems to sleep better that way.

I know the experts say 18 degrees, but I think thats way too cold. I would find it really cold in that temperature, let alone a baby. And certainly once they get to toddler age I think it should be warmer, as toddlers are very bad at keeping covers on. 23, 24 sounds much better.

Definitely too cold for a baby since they still can't regulate their own body temp. when too young. 23-24C is what we had when our baby was still young, now we have it around 22-23C and he's 2.6yrs.
