Is it your son or a friend's / relative's child? Just thinking of when my son was 15 -- a couple of years ago. My cousin gave him a toiletries gift box from FCUK, with soap, after-shave, deodorant and skin cream. He loved it and used all the stuff. Had I bought the same thing for him, it would not have been appreciated.

Toiletries for an adolescent male are very practical , in fact they are practical for a person of any age or sex though we get pickier the older we get, but the guy is not going to be saying OMG when he unwraps the gift no matter whom it is from, and honestly, I think as a mum you probably overestimate the level of angst he had at that age, I am sure he would have appreciated it and used it just as much had it come from you. Girls and self concious body odour tend to be big issues when guys are that age.
That being said if you don't buy a gadget pretty hard to deliver wow factor, cool t-shirt toiletries or a subscription to a service for a year that he would definitely use whether it be online or offline is about the best I can come up with.
