When you can move! Midlevels must be the most unchild friendly place in HK.

I'm sure there are lots of things going on, its just finding out where they are. There is a very nice parent and toddler group at the USRC in Gascoigne rd, Jordan. Don't panic because its Kowloon side, mums travel to it from Discovery Bay, Sai Kung, The Island etc. Its just a short walk from Jordan MTR station. Tues and Fri mornings, 9.30 - 11.30, $65 a session. There is also a group at the YMCA in TST. You could try ST Johns, they may run toddler groups. Put and ad in your local shop asking for stay at home mums with same age children to get in touch, or try on here. Your wife only needs to meet up with one or 2 mums to get the ball rolling. We tried it once in Germany, when I had a 15 month old. My husband went down to the local school at the end of the road and asked if there was any English speaking mums with kids that age. 2 days later a women knocked on our door. We're still in touch with them 19 years later.

You could also try Matilda hospital, I think they run groups for mums with babies.

Hong Kong can be isolating to start with , the easiest way would be to join mom and baby groups ( Matilda, YWCA, on Mcdonnal Rd or if you have any collegues at work who are members at the LRC which is very close by to you they could take you down as a guest) and being a family orientated club there are many mums and babies / toddlers during the day. Alternatively post a thread on Asiaxpat to look for any other new moms wanting to meet up for coffee or a walk around Hong Kong Park.

Not sure how newborn your newborn is but there are a number of classes for mom and baby around central but often the child is taken by the helper not the mom.

Just replied on another thread to you - The American club has weekday speciall memebrship for HK$36,000/year sounds a lot but it would be worth it and s much cheaper than other clubs at the moment. Other clubs also have long waitlists. At least you would be guaranteed fellow American companionship.

Taxi ride would take about 40 mins.

Also agree you are probably best not located being a newbie to Hong Kong .
