Apart from the YMCA, anyone have a recommendation of a reasonably-priced hotel which can accomodate us... with a separate space or connected second room for baby (so we don't have to sit in the dark in silence all evening)?

You can always rent an apartment form someone who is away at christmas. Look at the short term lets on asiaxpat. I have a friend who does this every holiday. You'll get a full flat with all the mod cons and probably in a great, convenient location....definitely worth a look, and in the current climate prob with a good price. I think the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Happy Valley does family rooms.

I would highly recommend JEN Hotel - great value - just opened about a year ago and the rooms are excellent.

2 Bedroom serviced apartments are are incredibly rare in Hong Kong, and the same goes for Hotels. The majority are studios to start with, lucky to find a 1 bedroom. All serviced apartments (that you would think are fit to stay in) will have a 1 month minimum term, regardless of your stay.

Reasonably priced... You'll need to specify what time of year you'll need your accommodation, and what you think is reasonable. Hotels with 2 bedrooms are going to cost. If you need space for a reasonable time period, you can try The Belgravia on MacDonnell Road for under $30K 27398811 or Grand Blossom House in Hung Hom for under $15K Ph,?

My sister and her family will be coming to HK in January. Her requirements are a hotel room with kitchen facilities because her son has severe food allergies. She has booked a family suite in the Harbour Plaza North Point. A quick Google search of this hotel:

http://www.siaholidays.com.au/hotel-search/hotel-HKI-HPLN-harbour-plaza-north-point/

indicates that the family suite have separate bedroom and living areas.

For your consideration.

For the benefit of future searchers, I booked into Harbour Plaza North Point and it served the purpose beautifully...
