Cant Pay rent for the time being

My husband has lost his job and we are unable to pay the rent. The landlord had appointed a bank as caretaker. Explained to usual middleman the situation that we do intend to pay but just not immediately. Landlord has taken civil action and sent us a writ of summons which i was advised to contest if I needed to buy time - which I did. I have been told by Wanchai courts to write to the judge explaining my situation.

I need advice on what to do next as I am confused and scared as well. What can I do as I have no intentions of not paying. Any input will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
