--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi guys,
I would like to make a marriage proposal in a nice restaurant or bar with live band which might allow me to sing a song to my girlfriend and do a marriage proposal. Any in Stanley bay? Hong kong island is ok too.
I would like to know where can I do tht? Please help!
Thanks!

Not to rain on your parade, but why on earth would you want to propose in a bar/restaurant? I was in DB recently and saw a guy pop the question to his gf at one of the restaurants and I must admit, it was one of the cheesiest things I've ever seen. Looked like the poor girl didn't have any choice but to say yes. Everyone clapped etc, but afterwards, the moment fell flat and the girl sat there with a huge bunch of flowers looking very embarassed...not in a good way.
As for a place with a live band....here's a few, but not exactly "romantic"...The Cavern, Insomnia, Dusk till Dawn, The Wanch. A few of the hotel lobby lounges (Intercontinental, Peninsula, Four Seasons) have live bands, but I doubt they'd let you sing, they might play the wedding march or something at a set time as you propose.
Here's my 2 cents, plan something more private and memorable. Some of these might be a little pricey, but hopefully, you're only proposing once in a lifetime.
- Helicopter ride to Macau
- Boat trip on the Aqua Luna (you could even hire it exclusively, but that would cost $$$$$$$)
- Book out one of the director's club lounges at Cityplaza (see if they'll play a tape or a DVD of your choice after the movie, either a recording of you singing or music you can sing to, or just a DVD of you telling her how much you love her etc)
- Book a swank hotel room (Four Season, Peninsula, Mandarin Oriental), fill it with candles/flowers before your arrival (I'm sure the hotel staff will help out with that). Book dinner in your room and order champagne and strawberries to toast the moment. Or you can take her out to dinner beforehand and pretend to go to the hotel bar for drinks afterwards, but surprise her by popping the question in the room instead. You should check in alone beforehand, so you have the key already and can go straight to the room.
Good luck
