Be careful. As someone with 22 years in law even i had a hard time with my own divorce last year. There are quite a few expats that can tell you horror stories. Family law is not fun but is viewed by some of the 'profession' as an opportunity to ratchet up the antagonism and dive into the 'common fund' of the family and take out what they can.


Be calm.


Consider if you are eligible for legal aid.


Get some free advice. Some law firms - there is a scheme - offer an hour's consultation free. Check the Hong Kong Law Soc website for details.


If you want to meet an experienced lawyer for advice on a prelim basis free of charge i can arrange.
