Just lost my job, so finances not good at the moment- I use to have my gel nails done regularly (arounmd $1000-$2000) and want to keep up the work without draining my purse too much.
can anyone recommend a decent nail salon, I don't need the frills of a 'spa' feel or anything. I only want a place thats hygienic, good and most importantly reasonably priced, somewhere in the Central/ Sheung Wan area where I live preferably. Thanks for your help

Try Magic Nails. Ask for Grace. Address is 241 Hennesy Road, Wanchai. It is an old building, walk up the first floor then lift to the salon on the 2nd floor. I have been going to her for gel nails for about 2 years. Pay $2,000 upfront and she draws down on the upfront payment about 250 to 400 each month for refil etc. Cost depends on what you have done and length of time from last visit.
Now sure how much it would cost if you do not pay up front. Probably about 15% more.
Don't have the number at hand right now but if you are interested I can find and post.
Easy to get to either on tram or bus. Walking distance from Pacific Place - about 10 minutes.

AngelaNail may be your another option. I'm her regular customer and will go there once a month. It's located in Central. The nail stylist, Angela, is well trained. Her place may not attract you but her skill is excellent and the price is value for money ($300-500 for gel nail). As she was working as dental assistant in central for more than 15 years, hygiene is most of her concern, so don't worry about it. Please try and you will see its worth if you know she use all well-known products. She can also communicate well with english people so if you are english speaking person don't worry about it.
