Does anyone have any experience in importing a motorcycle from Australia or know of a company to use. The Harley Davidson prices here are a total rip-off.

Thanks

I know a few people who have brought motorcycles to Hong Kong. It is quite simple I am told. There is a guy based in Sai Kung who can do the importation. His name is Simon telephone number 92 36 02 69.Good luck!

Well it can be simple providing you have all the correct paper work and your bike meets the legal road requirements in HK. If the bike you want to bring in has not been modified from stock then you should be ok (that includes not removingn the baffles). The bike will need to be crated and shipped then you will need to arrange pick up and transportation to either your storage place or a garage. There are several small payments within this procedure also to various parties that need to be made. Providing you do have all the correvt paper work you can then have any modifications (if any) done and have it tested. If it passes you will then have to pay 35% tax on either the purchase price or list price of the bike (the transport dept will decide this). Of course if you get a garage or someone to do it for you they will also have a cost. Suddenly what may have appeared to be a cheaper option does not really save you much.

Has anybody imported and Enfield Bullet (350cc) from India. I am looking to do that and want to know

- do Enfield Bullets meet the HK Govt criteria on emission

- what procedures need to be followed

- how much is the customs duty

- what other expenses need to be thought of while importing a bike from India

Thanks
