Hi I straighten my hair a lot and wondering if anyone can recommend a good heat protection spray/lotion to protect against blow drying/ straightening iron damage? Also any good moisture treatments for super dry hair? (brands and where to get, price etc) thanks!!

mixeymum>>> Firstly I would like to mention in regards to your straightening if you are goin to continue to have this service done you might want to consider the latest technology for it which is the Keratin Complex system. In brief this system uses Keratin protiens (keratin is the hair's main compound base protien) to relax the hair, reduce frizz but leave the hair with a more natural finish. The hair is left in much better condition as the Keratin is helping to actually condition and restructure the hair and the hair retains its elasticity and some natural movement unlike the Japanese system.

For heat protection I would suggest either:

The GHD heat spray which is pretty good but can be a little heavy if not used correctly. If you have fine hair its best to put it on before blow drying but if your hair is coarse you can spray it on dry before using irons.

Fudge Erect which is a spray in hair relaxing produt with heat protection. Its easy to use and lighter in consistancy. You need to blow dry with this as it is heat activasted.

As for treatments, you wont find anything off the shelf that will be as good as what can be used in the salon but there are a few decent ones out there. Fudge has one called Dynamite, L'Oreal has the hair mask, Wella has the Enrich Mask etc. There are so many. Keep in mind if you have access to a steamer or even a steam room this will help the treatment pentrate the hair even deeper. Failing that use a towel and soak it in hot water then wrap it around your head while the treatment is on and that shold increase the absorbtion. When buying your treatment either buy it from a salon or try the Professional Hair shop on Wellington st Central.

Hope that helps.

I flat ironed my hair and did a treatment with Ford Water Matrix hair products at Esprit Salon at $300. Right after that, I was advised to purchase the treatment to use at home which costs only $280 including a 300ml shampoo and 200g treatment (last for 1.5-2 mths depending on how frequent you wash your hair). After shampooing, you will feel the gentle softness of your hair and for a more moisturizing touch, use the treatment as a conditioner. For better results, leave the conditioner/treatment on for 10-15 mins before rinse.

The full names of the treatments:

Ford CV-Washing Shampoo 300ml

Ford CV-Third Treatment 200g

My freelance hair stylist orders them for me from Japan and in HK only Esprit salons carry them. For photos of the products(from Singaporean website), please view

Thank you so much for your replies...I'm going to look into the Ford Water one, but I meant I straightened my hair at home with a straightening iron (any advice on a good one would be good too) so I just wanted something to put on my hair before I did it as it's looking kinda dry! thanks!
