Dear all fellow members,
I am not sure if you ever got this but recently I was offered extremely high for a camera. The buyer said he wanted it for 'his love'. He first said that he was from Canada, then last minute he is telling me to ship to Nigeria to some random location. I found this really wierd, so i decided to research on Nigerian Scammers and I found out that there is a scam going on with a seller claiming to be 'Australian' or whatever. Then this seller would say he/she wants to ship this for example 'mobile phone' to Nigeria, because his son needed it for his field trip.
In my case, I recieved a similar case. This was the message i got within Xpat.
"Hello, it is new year .. and i wish you as well a happy new year... I am willing to buy your Camcorder for a new year gift for mylove.. i will want you to email me to.. janet.will84@yahoo.com, and let me know the price... so that i can prepare on how to make the payment with no delay ok. Thanks Email me to : janet.will84@yahoo.com I wait your soonest reply"
After a very long chat, I was convinced to drop ALL of my offers for my camera since this seller was offering an attractive price. He said he would pay for shipping too. We decided to do payments over paypal. And last minute he gave me this message:
Hello, how are u doing .. i have just login to my paypal to make the payment and the payment has been made transfered. cos the money had been deducted from my account, and i believe that the paypal will have contacted you for the transaction payment confirmation receipt for the through your paypal-Email, for the payment confirmed so make sure you make no delay ok..
Thanks
I believe this will really work well good and will make happiness.

.... Even here, i still did not realise, i thought 'his love' was some journalist. But then, after 2 times of him confirming that he has paid, I still did not recieve and payments what so ever. I started worry and so I researched on this scam, and found loads of websites on this topic.
THEY WILL TRY AND FAKE AN EMAIL FROM PAYPAL OR WESTERN UNION.. ETC. Do not be fooled! Check for signs such as bad grammar, your actually account for money.
After reading enough info on this topic i realised that i have been scammed, and nearly tricked into shipping a product to aid the black market and funding more of this A** holes.
I just wish for all you people here that post ads or ebay items, becareful. But I still think that Asiaxpat is still a great site, its just a shame that this guys have to come ruin it.
Btw, I was wondering if anyone would help me out if you interested in my cameras for sale? I still need to sell them desperately :S
look for my TRV900 camcorder($3000) and JVC HD100U($20000)
please share your info and concerns regarding this topic. I feel so foolish, but i hope this well help prevent these frauds to happen to anyone else. Btw the buyer was called Janet Will.

zeeshan - what part of africa are you from? Let me guess.. Nigeria? I am just wondering how much you get per email address you sell to the spammers
Nipan - There are thousands of 'Nigerian Scams' out there. This is ancient news and the only thing that shocks me is that you almost fell for it? Don't you realize that the poverty level in Africa is one of the lowest in the world? and you really should have known it was a scam when they asked you to ship it to "Adigun Kayode Damilola".... doesn't sound very Canadian does it!
I appreciate you writing this to warn others, but I would think that most people know about Nigerian scams already. And most people wouldn't trust a email like this with all the "positive" lingo.... it sounds too dishonest, " I believe this will really work well good and will make happiness."
You need to not be so trusting....

Thnks for warning, I agree that these cases might be 30years old but still it is good to remind someone who is new with online buisness.
Recently someone contacted us on ebay and said that he wants to buy our watches and has paid us us$800, when the watches that he bought only worthed us$500, but he was lying he didn't pay anything, and guess what? He was claming to be from the UK and asking to ship to nigeria too.
@zeeshan Bahgwan-----your name tells it all Zeeshan is a pakistani name and bahgwan is a hindu term. I m Warning you scamer.

Mom did the mystery shopper thing. We got $2700 out of it but sent the money back as instructed. Made gas money and the whole nine. Second job that came through the check came up as invalid. They said they made a mistake and sent a third check. Also fake. Same with the 4th and last check. One time we went to the bank and they just did some things on the computer and said "we cant cash this check and we cant talk about it". Handed us the check back and we walked out. No cops, no feds. This was back in 2008. They looked at us quite strange when we said the first one cashed and we had $2700 in our hands and send the money western union as instructed. That was everyone elses response. I guess people are suprised everyone isnt a crook in this world? The sad part was mom lost two practices and one was business residential. We were homeless for a month because the crazy old woman that was going to sell us the house we needed had no plans on leaving.
