Laoag & Vigan Hotels - The Philippines

Thinking of spending a weekend in Ilocos Norte - can someone recommend a good hotel in both locations. Thanks!

Nevermind - have found a great hotel in Vigan http://www.vigancity.gov.ph/ It's a colonial style hotel - newly renovated - great ambiance http://viganplazahotel.com/


Eat? Struggling with that - Leone's is meant to be the best in town - average.


There's a full slate of things to keep one busy for a day:


- rent a horse and carriage and tour the old city - there are quite a number of 150+ year old houses and churches worth touring - a couple of good museums - there is an excellent zoo.


Definitely worth jumping the 45 minute flight up from Manila if you have the time.


Another alternative is to fly direct to Laoag and stay at this resort http://www.fortilocandia.com.ph/ in Laoag. One could hire a car for a full day and see Vigan as well as the other sites in the area.
