Does anyone know where I can find a good builder for pergola and garden furniture items? I need some items for the garden - benches, wooden platform, screen/divider for the garden etc and wonder if there is a good contractor, builder, carpenter who has undertaken these jobs? The wood must be hard wood or similar that can withstand the weather. Any contact and advice would be very much appreciated.

Try Mr. Lau at East Union Construction in Sai Kung on Hiram's Highway opposite the Esso petrol station. They specialise in this field and have done a lot of work for expats. If you need the number let me know and I'll dig it out.

I had Mr. Lau (his company) install a glass banister for me and glass only balcony rail and was very happy with the work carried out. Although I've not had him install any outdoor wood/decking for me, l will have him install a pergola before summer because I've seen the work he's done both from photos and on-site (big decking job) and the workmanship is very good.
Price wise, I would say he is middle of the road but less expensive than a lot of places I've asked prices for. Best to call and tell him your requirements so you can get an accurate cost for your project.
