Best Car Seat for Older Baby?

ORIGINAL POST

Hello,

Looking for people's opinions on best car seat for 6/9 months or older baby. We have a 2001 Golf VW so it's not a huge car.

I'm interested in one that can recline because I can't imagine a baby will feel very comfortable sleeping in an upright car seat?

I've been reading old threads and it seems britax is a popular brand? Interested to hear your opinions/experiences and points I should consider!

Thanks.

Hi Slammy

We just bought the Maxi Cosi Priori XP (our baby is 8 months old) and it's really great. It has 4 different recline positions. the furthest recline isn't completely lying flat like the newborn carseats, but certainly enough for their heads not to loll around if they were upright.

It's seems really comfy for our baby and is quite padded. We have been very happy with it. We bought ours from 0/3 baby at Ocean Terminal in TST

Britax Marathon is very nice. Works backward facing and forward facing. Comfy and reclines nicely, especially in the backward facing position.

There's upright and upright. Most "full size" car seats are not somewhat reclined when mounted. Booster seats tend to be much more upright.

Hi Neenib and Axptguy,

How much did you pay for your car seats?

Axptguy - as the Britax Marathon can also be rear-facing, do you find that a small baby is comfortable in it or would i need to buy an extra padded insert? My baby is 6 mths, and around 7.3 kilos...

Thanks.

At 6 months baby is absolutely fine. That's when we changed from baby seat.

We went to forward facing around 13-14 months. At that point she had to bend her legs to fit.

We paid $2,200 that included the base that fixes into the car also. You can also buy it at B2B, I'm pretty sure they are roughly the same price.
