We are trying to plan a trip to Oz for the Easter Holiday. We will have approximately 10 days. Is a Sydney/Great Barrier Reef trip realistic? Also, would welcome recommendations for resorts close to the reef that would be family friendly, high end type of accomodations. It seems that many of the island resorts are adults only with the exception of Hayman whic seems to get mixed reviews. Is the Western coast a better bet? Any advice welcome as we have never been down under!! Thanks!

If you want to go to the great barrier reef, maybe Cairns or Port Douglas would be better to make camp, then go to the reef from there. We went near to Cairns once, stayed at Trinity Beach, loved it. Lots to do in the area for kids and adults, the zoo, visiting Kuranda and the rain forest, the beach. Nice weather. Would love to go back and explore the area again. Also went to Perth, which is lovely if you're visiting friends, don't know if its really a holiday destination.

Reflections ar Port Duglas is great. They will arrange all the day trips etc for you. reef trips are great especially if you helicopter to or from the reef. Agincourt reef is superb, go with Quicksilver tours very kid safe and professional
