I am from Turkey and I always fly to back home with Turkish Airlines.
I was just informed that TK bought new aircrafts (777-30) and new planes Business Class does not permit any child who is less then 2 years old!
I will fly home soon alone with my 10 months old son and I am suprised about this.
How come I can fly 11 hours with a baby around me? He is big for bassinet they provide for him.
Is other airlines refuses infants too?
If I buy the seat next to me, will that be safe for my son?
I am very disapponted now.

I have never heard of any airline refusing infants in Business. Did JFK-HKG with two kids under 2 on Cathay. No worries at all. I guess TK figures they won't lose a lot of business. Thumbs down to them...
Seat next to you will definitely be safe for your son and much more comfortable for ou. You can also bring your car seat and mount that in he seat. Very comfy.

My son did 4 long flights since his born. Even flew business with TK go home last july. The information I got that new aircrafts don't suitable for infants.
Even when I try online booking, reminder comes on screen..
So strange

I mean the business class is not suitable for infants!
I am trying to find out , if all the 777-30 are designed like that

Maybe they are saying they dont accept infants in bsuienss class. ie Child free environment? Some airlines dont accept kids in Biz
Also we've flown a number of airlines in business but always with her on our lap as in an emergency you can evacuate her quickly. They have allowed her to sleep in adjacent empty seats but in turbulence etc you will need to strap them back into your seat with you

many airlines do not like infants in business, or even children. Don't know of many where you're actually unable to buy tickets though, maybe its a new ruling, or just that airline.
I know for Cathay staff members their kids are not allowed to fly business class until they are 15 years old. I think airlines think people are paying a lot of money to fly business and they don't want a crying baby next to them
Try a different airline.

Also don't stress about any 'I'm an important businessman' routine. We've always found other passengers to be very helpful and friendly as nearly all have had kids and understand the stress of travelling with them - especially if you make an effort to calm them should they cry or get upset.

But there's always that guy. The guy who never says anything. He just gives you cold stare when you happen to glance his way. That's the guy I LIKE to p*** off. :)

Hi doburke, I just flew business class with my 10week old. Not sure if anyone covered this in earlier posts.... almost all the new aircrafts have seats at a 45 degree angle so that they can accommodate flatbeds. The angle is there to get the max number of seats and it is also really comfortable for long flights obviously but the biggest downside for parents specially is that there are little walls between each seat and look like little cubicles. These seats were fine for a 10 week old who mostly slept next to me, but for an active 10month old and parents c/would be very uncomfortable.
And I have had 2 long haul fights now and no one gave me a look as if I shouldn't be there. If they do- give a disgusted stare back.

Hi -sa,
Flying with newborn is so easy.. My son did his last flight when he was 8 months old, he was allright during the flight.. But now, he is much bigger, we won't fit in a bassinet that the airline provides...
Trying a different airline is not a good option. Only TK flies direct to Istanbul from HK. (even from singapore and from thailand )
I do not wanna take 19 hours connected flight to home, in stead of 11 hours.
My husband has a very busy schedule.. I think my best friend or my dad will come and take us back to home.. I wrote an awful e-mail to TK anyway:))
Thank you very much you guys, for comforting me..

Have you tried Emirates? Great with kids & good connections in the region.
