Hi there

We're looking at sending our child ot a french or german school here in HK. We dont want her to learn Cantonese or mandarin

Has anyone had any experience of this esp when English is their first language - age started, proficiency required, issues, recommendations etc etc

Well, for French and German you only have two choices AFAIK. French International School and Swiss German School. They both have excellent reputations. I would suggest you contact them and visit.
