Webcasts to/from China

I'm arranging a Webcast for some US colleagues and a China partner and plan on using LiveMeeting to do this. The last time I did a similar presentation we ran into problems at the China end, with our partner experiencing delays in viewing new slides as we ran through them (no issues for those in HK, Malaysia, US, Singapore). Apparently this is a not uncommon experience for our partner as they've had this with other parties. Would this be a China firewall thing, a problem with our partner's servers, a problem with LiveMeeting or summat else? Any suggestions out there for a product that rocks with China webcasts? We also want them to deliver a webcast to our clients in the North America and need it to run flawlessly.

I am a total Luddite so any technical responses will be appreciated for the thought but not understood...

Well you have to understand a few things with China. Local infrastructure for DSL is not particularly good. Some areas are better than others. China firewall can indeed slow things down, especially when there are major events happening in China and the filtering kills IP traffic. Traffic between China and US is probably the slowest of any nations in the world. I've seen speeds as low as 40kbps for upload / download.

So you can use the best meeting software in the world, best servers, etc but you can change nothing about the internet in China! We've been doing this for years..........

Bummer - that may mean that the safest course of action would be to ask our China partner to run the presentation from Hong Kong.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, we do that as much as we can to be honest. Sometimes we have to do from China and we know we will suffer from problems. Good luck.
