My husband and I are thinking about moving to a village house in Yuen long. It is a little out of the way but the area seems so nice. Just wondering what people think about shopping facilities etc within YL area. Are there big shopping malls around? Is there big Park N Shop etc to get western style goodies? we both work on HK island so will travelling a lot each day. No car yet.

Thinking about Mong Tseng Wai area village house actually. A bit out of the way but doesn't seem too difficult to get around. Will eventually get a car- just may be inconvenient for first few months when we move there I think[not impossible though]. Good to hear there are some bigger shops around. My husband likes a few extra comforts- I can do with local food personally these days- been in HK for 3 years now.
Does anyone know about the security out that way? Seems a little secluded, but has security systems in place and fenced off with key card entry to a group of houses...looks ok so far. Will be having a closer look this week to sus out the finer details etc

The Yuen Long area has plenty of bike paths on over to Tin Shui Wai and Tuen Mun many biking commuters around Kam Tin take their bikes to the Kam Sheung road station. There are some nice bike rides here.

Loving Yuen Long, now in Mong Tseng. I work long days usually and I realise I am isolating myself way too much. Anyone out there looking for coffee sometime? This girl needs to find some new friends for gossip and shopping on days off that are not related to work for a change!

i have just moved to Yen Long a week ago.I think the place is safe and have plenty of shopping malls. You have plenty of restaurants and eating place open at night and the place doesn't seen to be sleeping as its well said for hong kong sleepless city.I commute to Central 5 days a week.Morning you can use West rail and change to MTR which takes about 35 minutes to reach Central and at night you can use night bus service i usually take N368 takes about 50mins to an hr to reach.
