It seems the first Sevens tickets are on sale through this site,
at an undisclosed price.
'Send me your best offer', perhaps there should be a blanket ban on these sales until April.
Profiteering on these tickets is unsporting.
If fair play is not an option you appreciate, there is a law to prevent you from doing this.

Why not call the police and report them, its illegal if they sell for more than they paid for them
Please support our advertisers:
Absolutely agree. At the same time, rumour is that many tickets are being returned to the Rugby Club from corps who are cutting back. so I think there will be a few disappointed speculators our there...i hope they end up eating their tickets!

There's a warning about scalping tickets on the site - if someone reports them to the police they will have a problem.
We can't do anything more than warn - they are paid ads so we can't just remove them

Hi, Funbobby, you wrote "many tickets are being returned to the Rugby Club from corps who are cutting back"
Would you know if there is any way to legally buy a couple at a "face value" price ?
Through the Rugby Club ?

I'll be at the front gate of the stadium on 7s weekend, getting my face value seats as usual from someone who couldn't get the $3000 they were asking for, and laughing my a** off about it....
Please support our advertisers:
How often have you done that ? How often were you stuck with no tickets at all ?
Honestly i've never ever bought ticket on the black / grey market, as i don't want to encourage any illegal business....
I'd rather get stuffs directly from the usual official channel...or buying at face value from a friend who cannot attend an event.....

every year I've gone (which is not every year I've lived here), I've either had tickets given to me, or paid face value at the stadium on game day...IMO its not illegal if the tix are sold at face value...if it was then buying from your friend at face value would be illegal as well...

Ed ~ a question regarding the above. I was always under the impression that any ads were actually checked over by someone before being placed in your Classifieds, is that not the case? That being so, are you saying that people can advertise anything on your site, regardless of whether or not it is illegal, and you will allow them to place the ads because they have paid for it so you can't remove it?? Seems strange to me that the ads aren't checked beforehand which would give you the option to refuse them being allowed on your Classifieds, would it not?

Paid ads go directly to the site.

So paid ads go directly to the site ... What about unpaid ads, do they go directly to the site too, or do you check the content first?

Free ads go into an admin and must be reviewed before they go live

Hi Funbobby,
indeed, by illegal, i meant at an inflated price....
Thanks for the info, i'll try my luck...
Good luck to you as well & enjoy the games

Ed ~ So why can't paid adverts go into admin and be reviewed before they go live? Surely it's not a problem to charge a persons credit card once the ads have been reviewed and given the all clear. Or is it all simply a matter of money at the end of the day? I must say that I'm surprised that you would allow your site to get a bad name for allowing illegal advertising. It's only 7's tickets now ... but what next??

We have posted a warning that it is illegal - if people decide to ignore the warning then that is there decision. Deleting the ads will not solve the problem - they will simply post an ad without a price on it and inform people of the inflated price when they contact them.
I suppose that if someone were prosecuted for scalping tickets that would put an end to this fairly quickly....

Well, it still surprises me that you can hit the delete button for any posts that you either don't agree with, or you feel the content to be inappropriate for your site, yet you allow illegal adverts to be posted in your classifieds. The fact that you have posted a warning is neither here nor there ... you post the rules on your forums, but some people still disregard them and you then go ahead and press the delete button. And if people do advertise without a price, one can usually assume that they are illegally asking for above the face value anyway, otherwise there is no reason not to advertise the price. Anyone who is reported to be asking for more should have their ads removed and forfeit the cost of placing the ad. And don't say that people wouldn't bother to report, because I have seen many times over the years people complaining on this site about such things. By allowing these ads you are simply supporting the illegal sale of these tickets and the situation will continue.

I totally agree. The reply from Ed sounds totally self-serving. At the end of the day, it is all down to the $ that the ads generate. Hard to deny complicity when you willingly allow your house to be used for crime even if you have a big disclaimer hanging over the front door!
It is a great sporting event and it is just so unfortunate that every year at this time, we have to deal with the profiteering. To anyone who wants to attend but is without a ticket, despair not! I have not missed it once in the last 7 years ... tickets always turn up at the last minute (for free, face value or even discounted!) or you can definitely get one at the stadium easily and at no more than a modest premium. I equate that to buying a beer for the poor soul that has brought you your ticket to the stadium!

Does anyone know the actual "face value" of a 1 day ticket is?? ie Sat or Sun only??

The tickets would not originally been sold separately. Whoever first bought them would have paid $1080 for a three-day ticket.
So there isn't a definable 'face value' for a 1 day ticket.
