Slow computer

I had to restore my PC to it's factory defaults recently. It's still running super slow.

It is an HP so came with all that wonderful pre-installed crap that I end up deleting anyway.

Is there any way I can clean it all up, get rid of the HP pre-installs permanently and keep my original XP as it is genuine as it came with the PC?

Go into control panel->add/remove programs. Lots of the HP stuff should be there that you can remove.

You can also go start->run->msconfig. The "Startup" tab shows what programs are started when Windows starts. Uncheck as needed.

I've done the removal, but it's still slow as molasses. I am tempted to format the whole drive and re-install windows alone, without all the HP crap I get with the restore discs.
