Hello, I was recently offered a set-top box by a door-to-door salesman at an attractive price.
He has now installed the box for me (I have checked and that particular model does appear on the "list of approved set-top boxes" on the HK Government website.
Now the management has put up a notice saying that they have not authorized anyone to install any HD TV boxes for tennants, and in fact, our building has not yet been wired for HD Digital TV.
My question is, am I still able to receive HD TV even though the building itself is not wired? - According to the info I've read, it works the same as the Analogue signals, except the antenna connects to the decoder (set-top) box which turns the signal into a digital signal therefore enabling me to watch TV in high definition.
I am just wondering whether I"ve paid for the box and am receiving something that is essentially free... in which case, I've been ripped off!

building needs to be wired for digital. specifically the building antenna needs to be upgraded to accept digital broadcast. once that is done, your same antenna cable in your room will work. i am afraid that you paid for nothing, it will be useless until the upgrade the building. they should not need to authorize you to install a box, it is free to the public...
