Where to get rid of stuff?

We are downsizing and need to get rid of a heap of books and other small bits and pieces. Can't be bothered listing them all in the classifieds, besides we live in Tai Po and are not exactly easy to get to. Does anyone know of a place I could just give everything? Particularly the books?

Did you try your local library? They take books and even magazines.

Try Crossroads (a charity). They collect up unwanted items and send them to wherever they are needed, about 50% to organisations in HK, most of the rest to other Asian countries. They will take some books, depending on the type/language and you can check their website for details. Other books can be given to your local library as suggested above. And the Crossroads website gives a list of other categories of stuff they can accept. If you have things you're not sure they need you can e-mail them a list of what you've got and they'll let you know if it's suitable. Lastly, if you cannot get the items there (Gold Coast) in your car they will collect, but there's a long wait (6-8 weeks).
