I had my hair straightened (touch up from a previous procedure) at Fudge and the guy who did it was fabulous. His name is CY Li, but I think he was working with another technician who specialised in doing the straightening process. I wasn't able to get his name though.
Its that time of the year that I think I need a retouch of the roots. Could any of you gents point me to where I should go this time? I have paid about $1000 for the process so that gives you an idea of my price point.
If I don't get a touch up, could you recommend any other style/process so that I stop looking like a Mushroom top?
Thanks in advance!

The Fudge salon no longer exists as I am sure you are aware. It has been taken over and changed into another salon who uses different products and I believe all the staff have changed over during that time.
It is quite tough to fecomend another salon for the service with in your budget as for me i dont personally know nor have worked with anyone within that range.
That said TH2 (one of our salons) has just started to promote a couple of our up and coming young stylists of whom can perform the straightening no problem. As they are newly promoted they are working at a reduced price to so that could be an option for you to consider.
Straightening is really the best way to handle this kind of hair in the fabulous HK weather. Now there is a new process that we have been doing with products we import directly from the US, its called the Keratin Complex Relaxer. If you have heard of the Brazillian Blowdry (thats BLOWDRY people) then this is the next evolution from that. It does not leave the hair as cardboard straight as the Japanes one does alowing the hair to move more naturally and with out such an obvious regrowth. It is also much better on the hair itself which is always a bonus. The negative side is that the product is more expensive to use but for our clients who have tried it they all said its worth the difference.
I hope that helps somewhat but feel free to PM me for any more details.

Hi D-Man,
I am also interested in the Keratin Complex Relaxer, as I'm considering getting my hair straightened again but don't want the usual flat, limp hair that you normally get when you have it straightened. my only concern with this new system is it seems a bit controversial because of the high level of formaldehyde it contains. Do you use the Coppola version? Which is suppose to have no formaldehyde in it.
Could you please send me more info, and rough idea of cost (i have medium length hair) and who you would recommend to do it at your salon.
Thanks for your time.

Hi Ozcalgal......I just sent you a PM with some info...check it out and let me know if you need any more. Thanks.
And just in case anyone else is concerned about the formaldehyde issue (and you should be) the product we use is from Coppola and dose not contain any.
Cheers.

Not sure if this thread is still being read, but can anyone recommend what I can do with crazy frizzy, thick, dry, voluminous hair? Is there any hairdresser who can cut this kind if hair without thinning it out. Have tried japanese hair straightening but it is not for me. Makes the hair too straight and no natural bounce and it doesn't suit my face. Regrowth stage looks awful. Now my hair is totally out of control. Very frizzy, very thick and course. Need someone to give me a good haircut and good advise on managing my hair.

Try Louis & Co on Cochrane Street.
So many products have formaldehyde such as nail hardeners etc. Yet people have used them for years. I have had the Keratin Treatment, hair feels amazing & YES I am still alive. Formaldehyde and all :)
