Australian Baby bonus for expat baby

Has anyone had any experience with the Oz baby bonus since Crudd changed all the rules ? I know people who lived in HK and had their child in HK and still received it, but that was a year or so ago before the communist govt got elected in Oz.

Sorry, should have said Australians who live in HK. ( not just " people " )

Also before anyone gets up me about not paying tax in Oz, therefore not deserving of any benefits, I paid Oz tax for 27 years, and lots of it.

We had our baby in June 08 in HK and received the baby bonus. You only have a certain amount of time to apply though. We just scraped in, i think you have to apply within 6 months. i suggest you contact Family Assistance at Centrelink, that's what i did.

Thanks Neenib, but I think the great new changes have come in on the 1st Jan '09. But you are right, you only have a short time to claim it
