Internet searches default to a Chinese site

I find increasingly that when you do internet searches in English, and click on the list of responses, it defaults to the site in Chinese.

I know this is Hong Kong where the majority of people speak Chinese, but on the internet the default is usually in the language you do the search in.

This goes for major sites including Skype and Pay Pal.

It's not a problem if there is an 'English' tab you can click, but as in the case of Skype there was not. On Pay Pal I know how the site is organised so can click through anyway. Anybody have any similar experiences or advice?

If you use google it defaults to the language of the country you are in - however there is an option on their main page to default to English

In Windows, you can go into Control Panel->Regional Settings and change your "System Locale" to, say, the US. On Vista this function is under the "Administrative" tab. Then the computer "thinks" it is in the US and all this stuff becomes English.

For Skype there is a language selection box on the bottom left.
