Need advice on Asia Miles Credit Card

I had a bad experience with AMEX marketing. They were very desperate to sign me up for amex Cathay Pacific, and persuaded me to disclose my personal information even though they knew I am a housewife since I told them from the beginning. Once the application was processed, they told me the terms were different as I am a housewife. I no longer met their requirements!!

It seems their marketing people are desperate to meet their targets, and will say anything to persuade you to apply, even if they know you will be rejected. I wonder if these aggressive tactics are due to the fact AMEX are in big financial strife back in the USA?

Anyway, they have all my information now, which they will no use them for some marketing purposes. This way they can profit from me whatever happens.

Lovely people!!

Are you planning to post this on every expat board in Hong kong?

If you need a credit card and don't qualify on your own, have your husband get you a supplemental card or get a credit card from your where you have your bank account.

Yes I am planning to post this around hong kong. That is the point here..I'm trying to let people know about AMEX's overly aggressive sales techniques!

My point is not to get a supplemental credit card, i've had one for years. I suppose what upset me the most was AMEX's complete disregard for transparency, and the absurd desperation of their sales people to meet their targets at the expense of common decency.

whilst the sales guys might be aggressive, amex would be following US & HK data privacy policies - the former are stringent. I got an amex cathay card and the service has been a delight - much better than my hsbc card.

I do have issues with their terms and conditions on how to redeem points. i racked up 70 K points and could buy a business class upgrade unless the economy ticket was purchased at full price ( k class) instead of any discounted price ( S class)

As the earlier poster mentioned, privacy laws in HK are very strict. If you already have a supplementary card, your information is already out there.
