Looking for tools in HK

ORIGINAL POST

I'm moving to HK to teach English and Shop and I am trying to locate a source of building tools/materials in HK. I won't be able to bring my own goodies except for some basic hand tools so it would be great if I can find a local supply instead of shipping things from here.

Thanks

take the 'Dragon Centre' exit at SSP MTR station and you'll come out right at Ap Liu Street...walk left or right on either side of the street and you'll find many of the shops as Sellenger says...

B & Q at Megabox, Kowloon Bay or Reclamation St.

Wow, thanks for those. The B&Q looks like a good first stop. Very cool!

I'm looking forward to checking those out when we get there. Any tips for living on Cheung Chau?

Reclaimation Street is the cheapest and have everything you may need. You just need to do a bit of foot work. B&Q will be expensive compared to Rec St. Apliu Street has a couple of hawkers sellimng second hand power tools. All your electrical needs are also there at Apliu St. having said that most general hardware stores will ahve or can get what you want. Your biggest problem will be the language if you don't speak Cantonese.
