we have the quinny zapp with a maxi cosi seat and I am wondering if we will be able to take the quinny zapp base + the carseat on the airplane as carry on or will they make us put it in the hold at the door as they do with many strollers, in which case I will have to take a bag to put them in.

Travelling BA and qantas. Appreciate any comments from anyone who might have experienced this.

You will be able to take the seat IF baby has his/her own seat. You probably can't take the stroller itself unless folded it meets the weight/size requirements (I doubt it).

Most airlines (check with yours) let you "gate check" the stroller. That is leave it at the aircraft door. They put it in the hold but the strollers are last in /first out. When you leave the plane the stroller is outside the door. So apart from actually on the plane, you can have the stroller.
