I had a termite problem in my apartment and hired a pest control company to install several bait stations. They say the treatment has been effective and took them away. Now they are offering a 1-year service extension, including 4 inspections over the next year. It seems quite expensive at $3000 just for a few inspections and no ongoing treatment. Is there something I can do to prevent termites on my own? Can I just buy these stations somewhere?

For a price reference - Liquid injection by Biocycle, they charge $1,100 per application and require four times a year service. Are you sure your company is not giving quarterly treatment at the price you mentioned?
Not sure if the stations you can buy yourself are effective for termites in the walls of your house. All I know is that termites can cause extensive damage before you realize it is happening.

Thanks, though in my case the treatment is already over. They are charging $3k just to send someone every quarter to do an inspection. Is there any prevention I can do on my own?

there is a paint on anti termite thingy called xylophene
i asked at the hardware store up in hollywood road - nearer lyndhurst terrace.
there is one that is water based and more expensive. it is special order because it is expensive therefore not popular. but it is a good product because it does not emit fumes.
there is a cheaper brand too but not water based.
forget the name but the store would know.
