Hi, I have to go to a wedding in Bali in the summer. It's of a really good friend and I want to stay for the same duration as everyone else - 5 days. Trouble is, it's at the Bulgari and that's around USD1000 per night...not hard to work out I can't afford more than one night there, even sharing with someone else.
I don't know Bali that well and would like to know if someone can recommend a cheap hotel nearby. Walking distance would be even better...

Hi, Not so easy to find, nothing within walking distance of Bulgari Hotel as its in Pecatu. Close by that area, you have Karma Kandara, may be you can share with another guest, as they are 2 bed villas. Or you go down towards Jimbaran Beach area, there is one very inexpensive place, called the Bukit Inn, which is about 10 minutes in taxi to Bulgari, its small, pool etc, and is around US25 per night. The opposite would be at Padang Padang beach, surfing area, some small guest cottages there, I just cannot recall the name.
Check Cathay Holidays, usually they offer 3 night stay, packages, which are not too expensive. Taxi's are cheap in Bali, so you can get up to Bulgari easily. Avoid Seminyak area as its expensive

CX not promotion available in summer months, thats peak season. However, Garuda Indonesia now does direct flight to Bali, Denpasar after an absence of 10 years ! much cheaper alternative than CX. Flights are monday, wednesday, friday, sat, sunday. Leaving HK 15.00 hrs. and into Bali at 20.15pm

I tried the Bukit Inn but unfortunately it is fully booked. I am now looking at a hotel in Uluwatu near the temple and the surfing beaches. Is that relatively close or would a place in Jimbaran be more convenient for the Bulgari?

Uluwatu would be about 15 minutes to Bulgari Hotel. You pass the turn off to Bulgari on the way up to Uluwatu. Uluwatu also has its own ''local'' taxi company, as it can be hard getting a taxi back from say, Kuta area. Taxi to uluwatu from airport will cost you around 150,000 ruphia if you want local taxi number they can pick you up from airport, and will be considerably cheaper. Leave message here, or if you want a good, safe driver for your trip I can give you the name.
